About
W2d consulting was founded by David Krett in 2015. David is an accomplished software architect and engineer with over 12 years of experience. For the last 5 years, his technical focus has been blockchain and blockchain software applications.
Before pursuing his passion for technology and engineering, David was an accomplished corporate finance specialist with an MBA in Finance who held executive-level/management positions over 15 years in corporate finance and investment banking with major global financial institutions (RBC, CIBC, and Prebon Yamane).
In 2022 he was a core contributor to MakerDao, as Senior Financial Engineer and Architect with MakerDao's Collateral Engineering Services Core Unit. At MakerDao, David led or otherwise contributed to onboarding over USD$600 million of collateral vaults, including architecting solutions for several pioneering real-world asset deals.
Before joining MakerDao, David spent 3 years as a Blockchain Architect and Lead Engineer with EY's Global Blockchain team. At EY, David was the technical lead for EY OpsChain Public Financial Manager, an Ethereum-based blockchain application for tracking government and institutional funding and their associated outcomes. During his tenure, EY successfully piloted this application with organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, the City of Toronto, and other government organizations. David also worked on assignments for one of the world's largest custodial banks designing systems to allow clients to hold crypto assets and a proof-of-concept application to tokenize traditional financial instruments using three different blockchains.
David joined EY in 2019 from Chainsafe Systems, where he worked during 2018-2019 as project lead for developing a new Ethereum KYC Protocol utilizing a fork of Go Ethereum. In addition, David was a Professor at George Brown College, where he taught Dapp development for one of Canada's first government-recognized blockchain programs.
In addition to his web3 experience, David has extensive experience across the stack. Between 2010-2014, he was a co-founder and CTO of an Asian-based internet start-up and returned from Asia to Canada in 2015, where he established a technology consulting company focused on greenfield web application development – as well as a consulting/advising several Canadian internet start-ups seeking to resolve technical scaling constraints.
Intimately familiar with the operation of the traditional financial system, David's current passion is to use his extensive knowledge to apply blockchain technology to build a more robust and decentralized monetary system accessible to all.
